Superstition is very loosely based on common sense. If you break a mirror, you are more likely to cut yourself.

I technically broke a mirror on purpose. While cleaning out my dad's shed, we removed several planes of glass and a sheet of mirror.
We went down to the trash and smashed the glass by throwing it in the pit - then came the mirror. I slid it purposefully down the side until is broke.
I haven't had 7 years bad luck.

I'm superstitious to an extent, but I purposely broke a mirror a while ago and I've have some really good days since then.

I did not break it, the handy guy cracked it while fixing it on the wall. And since then this place and the people have been bothering me in many ways. But I open the umbrella indoors to counter it. And now it is fine.
