Tigerdirect.com is good, their prices are very competitive.

We recently bought a Gateway laptop for our office- so far, no problems (and the price was quite good) Some people stay away from Gateways on quality concerns but that hasn't been my experience. While we primarily use Dells, we've owned a few gateways including one server and all were rock-solid.

Asus laptops are pretty well-regarded but I've never owned one myself. They are worth taking a look if you're into gaming.
Since Asus motherboards are among the most popular brand found inside desktop PCs, the company seems to have a clue about what gamers need, unlike HP & Compaq which sport horrible integrated video chipsets.

Everex laptops actually have great specs compared to others in their price range- they are sold primarily in Europe so the brand name isn't very well-known in the US/Canada. That's why the prices are lower, not because of lower quality. They might be more of a hassle for repair/replacement issues if the unit can't be serviced locally. Support-wise I don't think it matters- every company has outsourced their support lines these days.

If you're a gamer, the most important thing to look at for your laptop is the video chipset- since it can't be upgraded after the fact you want a decent one- GeForce Go 7600 series or 8600 series (or better)

Here's another company that offers nice gaming laptops at a fair price:

I buy lots of items from Tiger Direct. The most recent item was my Motorola V3xi Razr.

ASUS is a very reputable brand of Motherboard, Laptop and System. Their Video cards are solid too.

I'd suggest you visit http://www.pricegrabber.com to check for Online Tech Stores.

The best laptop is a Toshiba Satellite M65-S9092. I have one, and I love it. I would highly recommend it.
