Start by putting everything that has a home, in its place. Then the things that don't have a place need to have one created for them. Having a place for all of your things is the first step to having a clean room.

Don't be afraid to throw some stuff out....this is my biggest pitfall when it comes to cleaning. There is too much clutter in my way to get to the stuff that needs cleaning. Sometimes it's not the work that is hard it's what you have to do to get ready to do the work..

I have to throw out stuff periodically as it always rebuilds.

And don't forget this little mathematical fact:

If you had ten items that could be put in 10 different places, then there are 3.6 million combinations. So don't take the approach of thinking that sooner or later everything will optimize itself. Don't forget the old expression:

"A place for everything and everything in its place".

If u get your room neat, clean and organized it will go a long way in correcting your laziness, at least it does for me. I swear clutter produces more negative energy than a D- on a report card.

Good luck to u

Well for starters get some heavy duty trash bags, some laundry baskets or storage bin and label KEEP
Next.. Dressers same advice...

If you dont' already have them "invest" in some underbed storage bins.. You can even get bed lifts from BED BATH AND BEYOND for around $12 and get an extra 7 inches of storage underneath ! If you have a full/Queen you should be able to fit two units and you can store off-season shoes/purses in one or both or linens for your bed to free up valuable space....

If you have a bedroom door use the backside for storage as well.. Get a shoe organizer or door organizer with elastic pockets..BB&B has them for $9.99.. Use that to organize small items like hair accessories/appliances etc... I like to make my bed everyday but, pull the covers down to air out the mattress... I also vacuum as well.. If you like to just "throw" things around the room get some wicker or nice baskets and use those instead.. If your room gets "messy" you can always put everything in a nice basket and stash in the closet until you can get to it later and still be able to find things.... If you have a desk/bookcase do the "sort" technique if you have books you no longer read you can DONATE them to school/library or check your area for a resale shop for cash... It may not be much but, it's better than nothing... You can also get rid of cd's in the same fashion especially if you have an ipod or computer that you store your music on... Then sell or trade your cd's... I have all my cd's, dvd's out of the jewel cases and into CASE LOGIC's it reallly saves space and all my binders are on my bookcase. It's looks nice, it's easy to find and sort.. The cases are in plastic storage bins in my basement.... That should help you at least get started.... Good luck...

If you are one of those people who stacks everything out in the open, you are not alone. Smile

Get a couple of boxes, go through your room and put all that stuff in the boxes. Mark on the boxes what you have in them.

Clothes.....put each item where it belongs. Closet and drawers.

When those items are out of sight, you will be able to see more clearly what needs to be done next such as vacuuming.

Once you get your room in order, never again just lay something down. Put it where it belongs such as a drawer, a box, in the closet.

Remember.....out of sight.

just throw all the messy stuff away. you sound young. your parents will think a) they're bad parents cause you don't have alot of stuff so they'll buy you more, or b) that you lost all of your stuff but now have a clean room so its a trade off.

Do an analogous on your "stuff". you're able to be shocked what you're able to make at a sale. shop your cloth wardrobe drawers for issues which will fold smartly. you are able to fold T-Shirts so as that they are approximately 6 x 8 inches or so and flat. you are able to then "document" them in the drawer so which you are going to discover them. you would be surprised how many you are able to extra healthy that way. Mate up your socks/ fold your undies (i understand, it somewhat is loopy).
