You could say the same about capitalism and its abuses. It hasn't played out in the West in the way that Adam Smith foresaw it.
___Read some of Marx's early works, when he made the attempt to do some real philosophy, instead of social thought. Not even good third rate work. He was in over his head. A real embarrassment. His social thought was based on confused presuppositions about the world and the human condition, and though it may sound like a lovely little way to live, it is, and always be, utopian (which translates, literally, to no-where-ish).
___Milan Kundera got it right in his novel, "Life Is Elsewhere". Romantic ideologies are intrinsically violent.
___People complain about how many people have died in the name of religion, but the body count for communism in less than a century dwarfs the deaths for religion. This ios no accident.

i've lived in communism in the eastern europe and i CAN tell you, it's a cancer to evolution! it is SO anti-individualist that you barely exist as a single human being. you have almost no rights. the reason why eastern Europe is WAY behind western Europe (and here you may understand almost anything, but mostly economic issues) is because they spent several years or decades of their history under communist rule. just look at the present communist countries: Vietnam, Cuba, North Korea. They are so poor, they hardly exist. China is holding on so well because in China there's a communism based on capitalist economy.
So as a final conclusion, communism is a desease MANY countries try to get out of. Democracy is not THE perfect state form, but it is the best we know so far!
Have a nice day! :)

Silly girl, Communism is still essentially a two class system:
The controlling minority "haves" vs the oppressed majority "have nots".
History has proved that a two class system always fails, usually from revolution.
The USSR failed because the "have nots" revolted against the "haves" by doing only just enough to not get in trouble. There was no sense of pride in workmanship or work ethic. Consequently, all imported product was superior to any product produced from within and eventually the infrastructure fell apart from the inside out..

Communism goes against basic human nature and thus ultimately leads to failure. All people are not equal and there will always be an elite of one kind or another that will be looking to exploit their fellow man. Our lives echo the natural world which is always survival of the fittest. Without that tenent our society and culture would lead into decay and destruction.

Thats the whole point... no one will ever play the role right.
There is always someone who will seek to gain advantage over others and so Marxism will never work.

Vote for communism? Reasons please. How about voting for any candidate that has the guts to run as a member of the Whig party? I'd love to see someone campaigning in a powdered wig.
