I have said he can pick 3 places then its upto me which one we will go on, like to keep him guessing until the day we leave! Trouble is he's not good in the heat so 70/75 would be the max, as his birthday is July I thought October time, can someone please give me some ideas but not too expensive!

One answer which may meet all of your family's needs is a cruise. They are usually not too hot and if they get too hot they are air-conditioned inside. They have lots of activities and they have separate activities for the children segregated by age group. Your teenager can hang with the teens and go to dances and play video games, the nine year old can have other age appropriate activities. That would allow you and your husband to have some time alone.

Cruises have many stops on a 7-10 day hol and your family can experience many different cultures without having to pack and unpack several times.

Also if you want to have family time, you can still get together for all meals and take the shore excursions together.

Less than 8% of people have taken a cruise but of that small percentage over 80% are repeat cruisers.

My family (I'm 50, my wife 45, and 2 kids 14 & 13) have fallen in love with taking cruises. We can normally search for a good rate by shopping early and that way we can get 2 rooms for the cost of one cabin for 4 if buying at the last minute. And it is nice for Mum and Dad to have some privacy at times. Our kids eat breakfast with us then take off for the day with mates they meet on the ship. We all get together at dinner. We also plan our shore excursions so everyone has a great time. We have taken 14 cruises in the past 5 years.

My kids fell in love with cruising and meeting new mates on ship. My wife and I always have a great time. The best thing is the cost. We can take our family on a 7 day Caribbean cruise for as low as $500-600 USD per person and all meals and accomodations are included. European cruises are more expensive but still cheaper than hotel and restaurant holidays.

Also, as you are planning your hols in October you can get off-season rates.

Don't forget, men never grow up, so anywhere that's got toys and the like.
