The best example I can give you here is the life of a Joker, who makes you feel happy with all the odd he does for you to make you laugh.

Also think of your mother, who takes so much pains right from the time you are born till you live with her, to make you happy and comfortable.

So it is a part of life to strive for others to make them happy. If you don't feel the pain you won't know what happiness is.

Depends on what kind of hurt you mean, who that person is to you and if they want the kind of happiness you're trying to bestow.

There are a lot of variables, but yeah, it's possible to get hurt in more ways than one.
