If there is a calcium build up in your machine due to poor water quality (water hardness increase) could be coming off & spotting your plates.
You can add a cup of vinegar in dishwasher and run through a normal cycle to de-lime the machine.
This should fix the problem.

It's caused by hard water.. I do this about once a month... I use sweetened/non sweetened drink mix like TANG, KOOL -Aid or Lemonade mix and I run an empty dish cycle on the hottest cycle.. The citric acid in the drink mix dissolves the hard water build-up and the mix itself freshens the smell of the dishwasher and it cost almost nothing to do.... Just fill both cups and run.... It works good luck....

we had a bad problem with water spots on ours. i found out later that running other appliances during a dish cycle causes it to do a poor job due to the reduction in water temperature. there may be a food trap or something that needs cleaning at the bottom.

You need to get that stuff that to run through the dish washer that cleans it out. I don't mean jet dry either.
