If a girl/woman has thrush they are forced to buy on of these or wait months to see a doctor in order to get one by perscription (in which case it'l probably have fallen off by then?!).
So WHY are they so expensive? Isn't it a little exploitative to charge so much for them? I mean is it a rare nd difficult drug to synthesise? Or is it grown in bio-reactors?
Anyways- my first question- why the price and second- is there somewhere you can buy them cheaper? (cheapest Ive found yet is about £11)

Totally agree!! Same with sanitary products. Dammed things should all be free.

Most GPs will issue a prescription for this without seeing the patient, provided it is only an occasional request.

If you are having recurrent problems you should also make an appointment as well. I often put Canestan One on repeat for women who get this problem regularly. Another option is to buy a pot of live natural yogurt each month and dip your tampons into it before insertion. This keeps the vagina topped up with lactobacilli which keep thrush at bay.

So expensive because they are convenient. It has the same amount of active ingredient, such that you could just buy the Canesten 7 and insert all 7. In australia, you can buy canesten 7 which is half the price, but takes 7 days to work.

Go to an independent chemist if you can find one and ask for the generic version of fluconazole - that is the same drug but not manufactured by Canestan - I've found it this way for £6.99 - easier to find in independent chemists rather than eg Boots!
