There is no way, this planet is dying and always has been on a ticking clock from day one. Us as a race have pushed the fast forward button just to help it along.
we have caused way to much damage, we show absolutely no signs of stopping the populaton tomorrow and we keep raping the earth, so no way at all can ths planet be in a peaceful state.
Sorry for the non-optimstic view but it is the truth and the way it is, why try and say other wise

Possible but unlikely.
As I learnt off a thought provoking question of a friend, before achieving world peace we need to achieve peace within ourselves. Only once we have accepted and learnt to love ourselves, can we think about expanding the peace. Achieving world peace has never been done before, even with the likes of Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King .. breathing this air!
Now they are great people who brought about some positive change that has had a long lasting effect on this world, but even world peace could not be achieved by them.
So we need somebody who has the character, determination, will and passion of these people but with that extra strength. Its not a matter of putting posters up or advertising in the Sunday newspaper, we need somebody special who stumbles across this ambition and passion within themselves and wakes up one morning to say 'I'm going to inspire the world today. Not because I want the title of a hero but because I want the title of a proud citizen.
Secondly, I don't think whilst we have the existence of religion world peace is possible! When will people wake up and realise that without any evidence of existence, we are all equally wrong as we are right! Religion only builds divisions!
thank you,
take care!

"Peace" is relative. If you're asking whether or not we'll learn to live with each other and stop fighting, it's an obvious no. We like to think of ourselves as more than a collection of cells, but we are just dumb animals. There are enough people willing to fight to the death in random pissing contests to ensure that war will always be a part of the human race. The irony is that our intelligence has allowed us to craft weapons horribly effective at ending the lives of others, while there is nothing intelligent about murdering each other over political or religious beliefs.
The only good news is that, since human life is valueless, war isn't really all that bad.

It's possible.
War is almost always the result of limited resources. One group feels they need something that another group has (oil, land, food). If technology is developed that allows infinite food and infinite electricity, war will be much less likely. If you already have everything that's worth fighting for, there's less incentive to fight. The internet and other technology is making the world a smaller place - eventually it will be small enough to become one community with a single goal - survival.
However...most of our best technology was originally developed for warfare. The desire to survive drives humans to invent all kinds of ways to protect themselves. In a backwards way, war is simply an expression of survival. Those who haven't fought to survive are dead. Quit fighting, and there are no people.

Not if peace implies lack of competition. With or without mankind, all life is competitive, we just ignore it in other species. All animals (including humans) are here thanks to their ancestors' competition, and their descendants will be here thanks to their own competition, for resources, for mates, and for better ways of dealing with their environment (knowledge, tools, etc.). As long as competition truly benefits the winning group, advancement results, but when competition turns into a blind race for resources or wanton destruction due to shortsightedness or false expectations of rewards (in this life or others), there is no winner. So, if peace is instead defined as the absence of such dysfunction, we may become peaceful if our understanding of outcomes improves substantially.

That depends on your definition of peace...
As far as mans inhumanity to man is concerned, then in my opinion I'd say no, not a chance. There'll always be someone who isn't happy unless someone else is suffering.
As for the rest of nature, you actually think it'd be peaceful without humans??

It will never happen. Humans are greedy, violent, selfish, cruel, and short sighted and always have been.
Don't everyone rush to inform me of the limited virtues of humans. I am aware of them and they in no way compensate for the negatives.
I would wish us all extinct tonight, but who would feed my dogs? They would be totally unable to fend for themselves, although the cats would manage just fine.
