I don't like spiders but don't want to be cruel them. We have loads of webs around the ouside of the house and I'm forever brushing them off but they come back the next day.

Only interested in deterrents not lectures. Thank you.

You could try breaking apart some chestnuts and putting them where you know the spiders are. For whatever reason spiders don't seem to like them.

they are hyped up. i'm specific they help some however the better determination could be chesnuts or conkers. Spiders truthfully hate the two alongside with different bugs. Conkers are flowers that do effective indoors and are a organic trojan horse repelant. Chesnuts are great, only kinda placed them the place you think of a spider ought to get in or the place you dont desire them to be and that they wont. Spiders can't stand them for some reason.

Believe it or not, I have used hedge "apple" or hedge balls in my basement and the spiders stay away. The green hedge ball has a white milky substance in it that repels spiders. I didn't believe it until I tried it. Hedge balls will last for weeks.

Getting them off a tree can be a little tricky since the thorns are quite large.

no lecture here...i love spiders and we have alot too they always drop from the ceiling on to me and i hop in shower if too many are on me, i would think a exterminator as my mother has black widows, recluses and little tarantulas outside her house or at her house and she has a service like orkin that comes once a month for them, it seems to work. as I dont see any spiders any more over her house except for the ones that hitch a ride on me when i visit her..(haha) good luck.

Put some bug killer out. If you control the food sources, you will control the spider population, since spiders eat other bugs...
I use Diazanon, or its equivalent, available at any feed, hardware, Kmart, or Wal-Mart...

there are many sprays out there that you mix with water to deter insects. I'm pretty sure there are some that won't kill, just deter, like how off keeps mosquitoes away.
