Is it an embarrassment or a badge of honour?

I believe it could/should be a good, useful feature...Unfortunately...it is used as an abuse tool for MANY!!
People abuse it to degrade another's answer, to make their own answer more appealing, perhaps b/c they are jealous of other answerers....Or, b/c they are on a pedestal, and want only thumbs up on THEIR answers!

Since I've been here...I notice ALL too often people going back and forth thumbing down great answers...and you know that something's FISHY when the answer didn't deserve it!!! This site has its share of TROLLS too, and they'll go out of their way to knock other answerers down!! IT'S BOGUS!

Quite frankly I ignore them

1) I know for a fact I have at least on TROLL who reports or TDs every answer of mine they see (which is why I have had to set my profile to private).

2) It seems to also be the case that people TD answers just because the person posting them has a Top Contributor badge.

3) There are the sad individuals who TD every answer in a question to make their own look better

4) Some people use TD simply to hide large answers from their screens

Ha ha sometimes ya know you're going to get a thumbs down for what you say but what kinda world would it be if we only gave answers that we knew wouldn't get a thumbs down

Honor!

Who gives a **** what others think? It's called Yahoo Answers, not Yahoo Give the Correct Answer Every Time...people are gonna give you thumbs down for no reason and some are gonna do it because their own answers suck. But either way, I just don't care.

It is a badge of honor; it means you have rattled someone's cage, so to speak.
