i have windows Visa installed in my Dell INSPIRON 6400 lap top but when i use my head set i could only hear and not talk in mic, i tried many things but i didnt find where they put the control for the mic that i can check if it is muted, which i think its not muted.

1. Plug it in?
2. Some sound cards mute the microphone by default. Check to make sure that it is not muted in the Volume Control mixer.

Indeed. A Mic is a piece of hardware, not a software component.

If your mic isn't working. Try uninstalling your drivers and reinstalling them with the latest ones.

try this web site, from what i've been reading your not the only person in this boat. evenone with vista is haveing same problems, looked at many forums, and this web site came up. you will see mic driver here not sure if they fix problem but its worth looking into.
