Half full

An optimist says it is half full.
A pessimist says it is half empty
An engineer points out that the glass has twice the volume it needs.
A scientist will point out that it is completely full, but half of it is full of air, and the other half with water.
A physicist will point out that there are great spaces between the molecules and also within the atoms, so that the glass is in truth very nearly empty.
A thirsty person will drink the water, and then declare it empty.
A waitress will recognize that it is partialy empty and fill it.
A busboy would see that it needs to be emptied.
A drinker would ask for a refill.
A real estate agent will recognize the room for expansion.
A health inspector will question why it is half full, and suggest that it is also dirty from someone drinking from it.
A philospher will debate the meaning of full, empty, especially since the top is open.
A monk might just meditate on the serenety of the glass and its contents.
A vandal would just break the glass.

Both!! That is why this is a test question for determining if a person is optimistic or pessimistic. Half full suggests optimism and half empty suggests pessimism. But in truth, the glass is both half empty and half full!!

Well really, it all depends. If you poured water into the glass halfway, then it's half full. If you had a full glass but drank half of it, then the glass is half empty.

It depends on if it is being filled or being emptied. If a waiter is filling my glass and stops halfway, it would have only filled it half full. If I am drinking it and drank half of it. My glass would be half empty.

I think of it as half empty, because it was full, you drank from it and it will eventually be all gone, and will eventually be empty. So half empty, you're getting to where it will obviously end up.

lmao
