There are many but they are not a good idea if you intend to try and sell your work. Most publishers will no longer consider work previously posted online. The internet is a playground for plagiarists, and before your work could be published, a lawyer specializing in publishing would have to work to make sure you owned the copyright cleanly. And that is a total hassle. Your work could appear anyplace with another person's name on it. And that so called "poorman's copyright" where you mail your work to yourself is useless in a court of law without other evidence. There are too many ways to beat it. And any copyright is only as good as the lawyer you PAY to defend it. Also many of those sites have fine print giving the rights to stuff posted on their site to them. You are best to find a local writers group. Bookstores and libraries have them. Or a night school class. Or if you are in school, show some work to a teacher and ask them if they can mentor you. The internet is just too easy to have your work stolen from. However if you want to go to a site and discuss writing with others, try Absolute Write Water Cooler. Some people do post stuff there, but it is not advisable if you intend to publish. I wont publish anything online - even though I get tons of letters asking me for a story here. I closed my website down ages ago. Pax - C

Most definitely! You can go to AbsoluteWrite.com or even Write.com and build your own portfolio and get feedback on what you've read as well as review the works of others.

Also, if you are on MySpace, go to www.myspace.com/weaversofwords You'll get tons of help and such there.

Also, just so you know, Write.com lets you keep your copyrights. Also WritersCafe.org is similar and allows you to retain your rights as well.
