Ok, this might sound stupid, but I've been a PC user all my life. I need a notebook for school and I was wondering, if I bought a Macbook, and since it wouldn't have Microsoft Office, how would I create presentations like with something similar to powerpoint, and then play them on the school's computer? And then also, if I created a document like similar to word, how would I be able to transfer it to the school's computer to print it if I had to? Would they be compatible?

Can I create documents and presentations on a Mac notebook and then plug my flash drive into a pc and have it work?

Hope this makes sense, thanks.

Ok, so if you create something with iworks, how can you show it or present it on a non mac computer? I don't get it. Does it just work? Because I can't show my Mom any of my PowerPoints because she doesn't have PowerPoint. So, I just don't get it. Can someone please explain.

Macs are VERY easy to switch to.
You're Microsoft documents/presentations will still work with either Microsoft's Office for mac OR it works with Apple's iWork (both need to be purchased unfortunately)

However, i STRONGLY recommend switching to a Macbook. I myself bought one. And i love it.

To answer all your questions yes. everything is compatible.

I'm not a pro at computers or mac, but I've had a mac notebook for 2 years (well 2 of them, a notebook G4 and a macbook pro). You can get Word on the mac(the same word that you use on a PC) and PowerPoint . I know you have to get a version specifically for the mac, you can't use the Microsoft version although all the Microsoft office programs are offered in a Mac version. Macs are great and really easy to use. I will never go back to a PC. The school I go to supports Mac, so I don't know how compatible the computer will be with transferring PowerPoint's to a Microsoft projector. I'm sure someone can answer that though. I hope this somewhat helped. I love my mac!

Hi,

As a PC user you've already apparently become familiar with Macintosh's Microsoft Office software. PowerPoint, Word and Excel are Macintosh applications that were ported to the PC. They were on Macintosh before Windows. not the other way around.

You don't have to settle for something similar to Word on either a Mac or a PC. It's now available on PC as well as Mac - but you knew that already. You just didn't know it was Mac software.

Yes, flash drives work on Macs. Macs supported USB long before Windows computers did.

you could do a neet presentation with imovie. but not like the one on pc's.

i really dont think macbooks would be good for school. im on one right now. it has a little word type thing called TextEdit and its pretty much just like "Note pad" on pc. it cant change fonts or sizes or anything. and you probably couldnt hook it up or email it to a pc and have it work. their neet computers though.
