Yes, if it is a eutectic mixture of two or more different crystals it may be a mix of two compounds.

Gervald, this is the exact sort of exception he is looking for. The important thing is not that it is "most unlikely", but that it is possible and so for the class he is taking this is all that is necessary.

If a substance is pure, then it has a sharp melting point. If it is impure, then it has a range of temperatures, lower than the official melting point, over which it melts. This is one of the ways of determining purity.
It is most unlikely that the exact mixture necessary to form a eutectic mixture is present.

the aggregate could have a melting ingredient under the two of the aspects. The relative quantities could confirm no count if the melting ingredient could be closer to that of one or the different.
