It really depends on the individual and the envrionment which they were raised in

Someone once explained to me that at some point during the gestation, when it is determined whether it will be a male or female there is actually a physical change in the brain. Males, cannot multi task, think about all things logically. Women, multi task, apply emotions to everything.

When a man's logical side becomes overwhelmed, it switches to the emotional side. Since this side of their brain has not been socialized it often results in irrational behavior.

Women, when they are emotionally overwhelmed, have breakdowns. Retreat to the quiet and cry.

I've watched this be true, men act "emotionally" out of logic. Knowing what it would be logical for them to behave like.

Ernie, I suppose this is why logical emotional men shout down others in a discussion or use foul language to make women retreat from the issue.

Men try to repress their emotions and pay the price physically and emotionally. Witness our mental hospitals and prisons.

Women more likely than men to put emotions in motion

And there is overt behaviour. It is determined by culture, upbringing, personal inclination, temperament and so on. For instance: women are more likely to express emotions than men when they encounter a person in distress. Both sexes, however, experience the same level of physiological arousal in such an encounter. Men and women also label their emotions differently. What men call anger – women call hurt or sadness. Men are four times more likely than women to resort to violence. Women more often than not will internalize aggression and become depressed.

The first-of-its-kind imaging study showed that women activate the parts of the brain involved in language processing and working memory more than men when viewing funny cartoons. Women were also more likely to activate with greater intensity the part of the brain that generates rewarding feelings in response to new experiences.

Emotional Wiring Different in Men and Women:

The scans also showed that men's and women's amygdalas are polar opposites in terms of connections with other parts of the brain. In men, the right amygdala is more active and shows more connections with other brain regions. In women, the same is true of the left amygdala.

The limbic brain is the part of the brain that feels emotion. It is also where we store highly charged emotional memories, tagging some memories as unimportant, and therefore they are easily forgotten. Because of these emotionally charged memories, the limbic brain then filters external events through internal states, creating what is called emotional coloring. This sets the emotional tone of the mind. Not only is a woman's limbic brain measurably larger than a man's, it is the only area of the brain that is filled with numerous receptorcytes for estrogen.

A new study suggests a reason: Women's brains are wired both to "feel" and to recall emotions more keenly than the brains of men.

The researchers found that the right side of the women's IPL was larger, which they linked to the ability to sense relationships between body parts and awareness of certain feelings. For example, a woman would more likely detect anger in someone's voice than a man.

The left side, associated with perception, such as judging how fast something is moving, estimating time, and being able to mentally rotate 3D figures, was larger in men.
