How many of you feel...?

... certain connections to other people that you know only online? I mean, how can you miss someone whom you only know through text? How can you get jealous when they're chatting with someone else more than with you? What sense does that make?

Yes I definitely feel this too. I dont think you actually have to meet someone to feel this connection, although if you did it would be even better. On one level, we are all connected through the universal consciousness. I have strong connections with friends & family on this level & intuitively know when something is wrong, before I have contacted them in person. With guidance, time & experience we could all 'communicate' with eachother on this level, it just depends how much awareness you have. So its perfectly possible to feel this connection with someone you have never met.

You can tell by their personality on how they write their ?'s out. You seem like a real nice person that has character. Whether you are a weird freak; I really don't believe so. People have their own opinions on each individual and it's up to them how they take the ? at hand or just ignore it. If you really like the ? that was being asked and you put a lot of thought to it, then you may have that connection with that person and I feel also with the way and actions on how you input your ?'s. This is somewhat a hard question to answer. I have words to say about the question that you are asking but I'm unable to word it in a way that would make sense and I'm not for certain if you understand what I am saying. The Jealousy thing, who knows, Go Figure....................................

The world is changing rapidly. Online connections become as real as person-to-person connections. Email has taken the place of the telephone so that online communication becomes a way of connecting with people without actually meeting them in person or even hearing their voice. People become friends in a different kind of way. As far as jealously is concerned, I suppose it's possible to feel that way if one would feel jealous that a friend is spending time with others. In any case, once a connection is made, it becomes difficult to break that connection. Some members of my family have been communicating for years via camera and voice and I'm sure this is the wave of the future.

I have online friends. Though they feel like good company, they don't fill the gap. I don't get jealous when they are talking to soemone else. But if it is someone I knew in real life then I would be really jealous.

Exactly. Its just text. I do feel an intellectual connection but that would be it.

I feel I have connections online to some people I've met here on YA. Some of us even exchange e-mails, but we've never really met. When people add me as a contact, I add them and try to answer questions they pose. Seeing the questions every day makes me become familiar with each person. We get used to people we see around us even if it is only online.

I mostly wonder "Hey, where's so & so? Wonder why they're not around?" Something to that nature.... I don't get jealous though when I catch them chatting with someone else although I might wonder why they stopped chatting with me???

It makes just as much sense as any sort of jealousy/long distance relationship, I think. But, I'm not social enough, even online, to have felt that too often. Only once. :D

I have pretty much only felt connections with people online...it sucks because I wish I actually knew them.

i dont know. but i get jealous when the guy i like at school talks to others and when he sees me he just smiles. maybe hes shy...........
