The sum of two consecutive integers is 145. Find the two integers.

Let the integers be x and (x + 1).

x + (x + 1) = 145
2x = 144
x = 72

integers are 72 and 73

if the smaller integer is N then the next consecutive integer is N+1
the sum of both integers is N + N +1 = 145

2N = 145 - 1 = 144 N = 144/2 N= 72 and N + 1 = 73
