no we cant store lightning electricity because this electricity is at too high potential that no device can store it it will burnout if it tries to, by relation Q=CV where Q is charge and C is capacitance V is potential of light for a quantity of charge at given potential u can find the capacitance required and capacitance above 1Farad can ionize air and all charge goes to ground
but earth can bear it because its potential is zero and capacitance nearly infinite because of such a large radius

Energies are of two types - potential & kinetic energy. (PE/KE) PE is static which can be stored & KE cannot be now why, study basics (statics & dynamics) in Physics. So Electricity in crude form can be termed as a KE which is always flowing & cannot be stored it can only be converted or used. But still it can be stored such as in batteries/cells etc. then again in crude sense it is in PE form. Now there are two types of electricity one is DC (direct current - PE) & the other is AC (alternate current - KE). AC form of electricity can only be generated & transmitted. If the demand is less then reduce generation & if the demand is more then increase generation. Now as the demand is very high in our country & our power generation is not enough/cannot meet the demand so we're talking about conservation i.e. reduce the consumption of electricty, be economical/don't waste it.

Energies available in different form cant be stored like wind energy available when wind is blowing - make use of it. Same way wave energy from ocean waves - convert into useful form & use it. One can't store energies like these.

Hi

Who said we can't. We can store the electicity of lightning.
Many researcher have stored electricity. The problem with stroing is we never tend to know how much kilowatts the lighting strike will give. So the device which stores has to take up that much of load. Every strike gives different load of electicity.

And one more thing, electicity is difficult to store on a permanenet basis. secondly we have to wait for the lightning to strike, so if we set up everything, and if it dosent strikes at that point, then it is a loss on huge investement. Striking of light hardly takes place on same point.

thats why it is very hard to get striked so hence storing becomes difficult.

Regards
Chris

First off - Lightning is not light. Light is emitted when lightning occurs and is a result of electrical energy dissipating. the light emmitted by lightning is caused by the dissipation of electrical energy heating the surrounding air.

We cannot store it mainly because the amount of electrical energy is enormous and a stupendous battery will be required if you wanted too.

When Ben Franklin did his experiment with the kite, he actually collected lightning energy in a Capicator (called a LYDEN JAR) proving that lightning was electricity.

The problems with capturing and storing this energy have to do with the infrequency and extremely high power densities involved.

The evolution of supercapacitors may give us tools to accomplish this.

We could, but the costs would be immense, far in excess of any benefit. Photovoltaic power is really nice because it's consistent and steady all day. It's the kind of power source batteries like. It's even better when you can deliver the power directly to the distribution grid and not have to store it at all.

first of all, a capacitor is what shops electrical energy. lights has an exceedingly extreme voltage AND modern-day. voltage is "skill skill" that is "no longer something" devoid of decrease skill for the better skill to return all the way down to. while lightning "strikes" you have the dissipation of the extreme skill of skill being released to "floor" (the floor) subsequently turning out to be an electric modern-day that is fairly extreme. So extreme/great a modern-day (flow of electrons) that it vaporizes the air heating it SOOooooo right now that it expands at as quickly as turning out to be a sonic growth noted as "thunder." i could surmize that WE DO HAVE THE technologies, yet no person i understand has outfitted the type of gadget. you could even have lightning strike the place you desire it by way of turning out to be a tall conductive cloth (steel, gold being the main conductive, silver being very stable, copper being maximum functional with the aid of cost). This cloth (in lots of cases noted as a lightning rod) must be used to ''attraction to" the lightning. as quickly as attracted, the lightning, interior of a lightning rod , is directed removed from an in any different case extra helpful merchandise (barn, residing house, tower and so on.) and to the floor. IF,,,,IF,,,,IIIIIF somebody ought to hook this up in a thank you to step-down the voltage and modern-day of the "captured" bolt of lightning with a "step-down" transformer or array of such transformers, and had capacitors to capture this decrease voltage , i do no longer doubt that this may well be finished. i'm no longer qualified - yet - to understand all the info, yet once you place this up in an lively hurricane region of the worldwide or united states of america, "attracted" the lightning and dispersed/decreased the present/voltage, i think of that it must be completed. Is it functional and/or low-funds?????

well the idea is very creative, conservative but tedious.
Think for a while Electricity falls instataneously and at which place will it fall is unknown and it is not available at same area for long time its location is temporary basis.
I really appreciate the idea but it is not applied commercially bcoz it is not economical than traditional methods so we should go for wind energy, and ocean waves it is good option.

First I Would like to tell you about light - nothing but the waves of photon that transmits the energy. solar sells , photon cells are the cells that are used for the purpose of storing the electricity of light . If you r not understand ask me on mayur3868@yahoo.com
