Now, when I say this, I'm not saying it like, "OMG I WANT 2 B3 ON DIISN3Y CHANN3L!!1!!!!!" I simply want to take up acting as a hobby. They do have productions in my school, but they're musicals, and I'm not very good at singing and I'm stiff when it comes to dancing. I have been told I have potential and it seems like so much fun!

Does anyone know how I can get into some plays and stuff? Once again, I am a young person who's looking to act for fun. I'm not really looking to pursue it as a career or be famous or anything.

Hi,

If you do a search here on answers you will see other answers to this question, as it comes up usually a couple of times each day. I answer this question a lot and so instead of writing the same or similar answers over and over again, I have created an ebooklet that will give you a lot of intormation as to what you need to do to get started. Just go to http://www.actingcareerstartup.com/acs-blog.html , sign in on the right side of the page and you can download it for free. It's called: What It Takes To Become An Actor.

The second resource is about getting an agent, although, if you have no training yet, then I doubt that you are ready, but here it is anyway: http://www.actingcareerstartup.com/how_to_get_an_agent.html . It takes you through a process that I used to get two agents and a personal manager in a short period of time in New York. Using the same process, I also got casting directors to actually start calling me in directly for auditions.

And have a look at this page on my site: http://www.actingcareerstartup.com/acting_on_disney_channel.html

Hope that helps!

The only way is to try out. Even if you can not sing or dance, if you get choosen for a background performer, your singing and dancing will improve over time. I promise. You can also look for acting classes as well. You probably have a group that puts on local plays without the need to sing or dance. I would just keep my eye open for things like this and just audition for things. You never know unless you try.

Good 4 U! Did you know Ashley Tisdale is from NJ? She is on Disney Channel. Anyways, it is pretty hard 2 just get on disney channel. Unless you have money to hire an agent which would book a try out for you... I wouldn't be looking in that direction! Continue to do local theater, and productions in your school. Have Fun, and enjoy it! :)

Atta girl! Love to see someone who wants to act because they want to act. There have got to be local live theaters. Call them up and ask about kids classes and workshops. Ask whoever teaches drama at your school. Check the yellow pages but beware of scammers. There's stuff out there. If you look hard enough you'll find it. Much luck to you!

If you just want acting for a hobby, don't sweat it or get too anxious. Do the community theatre and acting class thing. Have fun. Avoid scams and book sellers.

Check out your local performance theatres. They are not all musicals and there are plenty depending on your area esp. if you are willing to work for no pay. Do an internet search, look in your local phonebook, look for auditions for local theatre online. www.productionhub.com is a good site. If i knew what general area you live in it would be easier to send you to some web sites.
