please i am not racist but my school is infested with really ghetto, *****, bratty latino girls. they come out of nowhere and try to pick fights with you, i'm not scared of them i just think they are really annoying. how do i deal with this other than ignoring them

I believe those certain Mexican and Mexican-American girls are called "Cholas." In my opinion, there are equivalents of them among all races and ethnicties. And of course, not all Mexican girls act like that, but the ones that do are very noticeable.

Try your best to ignore these girls. These Cholas act this way because they have nothing better to do.

Just become fearless when you are around them. Have the kind of attitude that they do not concern you. If they make fun or try to start a fight just become fearless and don't let them get to you. I have dealt with these people all my life and most of them become intimidated when you are not afraid. Best of luck, and don't try to befriend an ignorant person. You should try to get to know one or two of those girls who are "ghetto," maybe then your opinion will change. However, the way you're speaking about them makes me think you won't even give them a chance (stereotypes and unfounded assumptions towards all because of a few).

Technically, hispanics are the same race as "anglos" so it's not racism it's bigotry, and just as stupid and wrong. It's possible that these individuals are being pushed by other "anglos" and you are an easier target. You don't mention how or why they pick fights or what excuses they use, so it's difficult to put the scenario into any kind of perspective.

well you gave a few choice.. tell the principal each time they try to pick a fight with you.. fight back with them.. try to make friend with at least one of them.. there has got to be one that is not like that..maybe one that dont hang with the group but knows them..

Don't be complaining about Latinas when you know nothing about their living conditions. I have never lived in any ghetto, but I know people of have lived in the barrios. They are surviving. You should try to put yourself in their place and see how you would act if you saw and heard what they did at a very young age, sometimes without an adult to protect or supervise you. It can be very scary and it is very hard to escape out of it. Some do make it.

To Jenny C.: No one chooses to live in a bad neighborhood. You live there because you HAVE to. It works with all ethnic groups. People who live in these neighborhoods do not know the American dream like most other Americans, but they are living in a real American nightmare that they have little control over.
