The lead of Pippin in "Pippin" is an AWESOME role for an 18 year old. It does require significant dancing, but the songs are great and it's just a bit sexy.

There are a few oldies but goodies that I know of.

Bye Bye Birdie, Into the Woods, and possibly, though I am against its idea in the plot, Rent. (I also know what you mean by not High school Musical, I hate that one.)
My personal favorite is Into the Woods, but it has very few parts and no ensemble. Bye Bye Birdie has a huge ensemble and several parts, so it would probably be your better decision. Break a leg!

(Dear god, thank you for saying you hate High School Musical)

Anyway...

Grease
Bye Bye Birdie
Hairspray
You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown
A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum

Anything fairly comedic, with younger characters

The first one you can get into is the best one. You are more interested in the good of the show than the good of you are you not?
And if you like perofrming musicals, go get one quick!

Grease, Hairspray, or even West Side Story involve a lot of young characters. I mention them because they're my three favorites.

The one you can get cast in. The one that has a role for your "Type." One that you feel a connection with -- but if you can get cast in any take it.
