How do I refer to these people?
If you are one..what is right? When I was young I called one a baby lady..she was pissed..Now I hear you can't call them midget..but little people sounds sucky ..So does dwarf cuz it reminds me of a gnome...

Why do you have to refer to them as anything there people just like the rest of us.

Watch the show "Little People, Big World" on TLC. They are the cutest family ever!! You will fall in love with them. The parents in the show are "Little People". They have 4 kids. Three of them are average height & one of them is a little people. The one who is a little people is a twin. His twin brother is average hight. On the show the parents refer to "little people" as "LP People". They are also can be called "dwarfs". Watch the show and you will get an idea about what's like for little people to live in a big world. I love the show and always watch it every season!!! The family is one of my favorites to watch on TV.

Why not go up to one and just ask. They're people, call them people like you would like someone to refer to you as had you a deformity,debilitating challenge or handicap. You might as well be another racist jerk with a question like that. God forbid you ave a child or family member with such. What would YOU call them? Should be kicked in the shin for a dumb q. like that.
Bear in mind they did not create themselves, if we did we all would probably change or alter something about ourself. Accept yourself and then so will you do the same to others.

technically they are called Little People, but some can be confused in calling them dwarfs. the two are somewhat different, dwarfs are way smaller than the little people (formerly known as midgets). It can be down right confusing, but in any case involving smaller people, call them little people.

according to the tv, they like being called "little people" these days. Actually it's very difficult keeping up with (or trying to keep up with) what's politically correct for a specific moment in time.

Little people prefer to be referred to as little people. Midget is considered rude because it conjures images of circus people and "freaks". There is an organization called the Little People of America (LPA ). So it's obvious they prefer to be referred to that way.
Dwarves is a term used rarely now a days. Some little people are offended because it reminds them of fantasy tales (dwarves, hobbits, etc..)
The difference between a dwarf and a midget is that dwarves have disproportunate limbs and heads in comparison to their bodies. There are hundreds of types of dwarfism too.
Midgets tend to be proportunate overall.

I'm not one, but i have a friend that's a little person, so they prefer to be called a Little Person.

I think that you should call them whatever you want to, even if it isn't PC. I prefer to call them midgets.

I've seen them around but never know them or talk to them.ok now I know to call them little people

I think they prefer little people, but that sounds rude to me. I've always called them midgets, or dwarfs, since it is actually dwarfism. Try not to think of gnomes, but think of Happy, Sneezy etc.
BTW, have you ever seen the show on TLC (I think) Called Little People Big World? It's great.
