The thing is, if it was only provided for emergency services and not to try to build a health care system or lay piping for running water, then it makes since that it would go quickly. It;s kind of like throwing a bucket under a leak instead of fixing it!!

If we just cut our military budget by 10% no one would go hungry with the money saved. It is sad!

Gee...for only $15B-$20B The US could install a state of the art fence on the Southern US Border and even add a few dozen Agents thus saving the Legal US Taxpayer $60B+ Yearly in costs incurred by Illegal Aliens.
Hey.. we'd have some extra $$$ to help out other countries and maybe even start to rebuild OUR failing infrastructures.

The US International Development Assistance program gave 22.7 Billion dollars last year. It gave more than 20 billion dollars the year before.
I dont know where you got that number but.... sadly no it would take far far far far more than that.
""If we just cut our military budget by 10% no one would go hungry with the money saved. It is sad!""
clinton cut the military budget but around 25% we had higher unemployment and plenty of people going hungry.

The US is already spending 25 Billion a year on foreign aid!
Much of the aid we give to other countries ends up in the hands of politicians and criminal factions in those countries.

Well, your ice cream comment is hyperbole, so I'd like to see a source validating your other figure.
However, assuming for the sake of argument that it is valid, the UN budget could put its budget in that cause and solve all those problems in ten years.

well did you know that meaningless statistics won't change anything? and you made it sound like America subsidizes ice cream : ). why do people harbor so much animosity toward the american people when everything is gwb's fault? when you say "we're spending all of this money on a stupid war," it makes me feel as if i had partaken in that egregious blunder.

No, I doubt that number is correct, it is very low and America already provides billions of dollars in aid from government, public and private sector donors.
I guess the 100,000s of Shiites and Kurds in mass graves don't count?

There are 6.6 billion people on earth,
Using your numbers, your saying you could provide food, water and health care to all of them for just,
$3.00 dollars each.
Now do you really believe that ?
