Have you ever read Barry Goldwater's "The Conscience of a Conservative"? It will open your eyes as to the original meaning of the Constitution and how modern Dems and Reps are steering away from the Founding Father's idea of the Republic. No bashing, please, just tell me what you believe.

I never read the book, however I was raised in Arizona where Goldwater was God. My relatives (democratics), always voted for him no matter who was going against him. Why? Because they knew that even if they didn't agree with him on everything, when he spoke they knew where he stood and he wouldn't waiver.
Pro-choice
Anti-Religious right, the line about "all good Christians should kick Falwell in the ***" priceless
Even Pro-Gay after his grandson I believe it was came out.
He believed in little Government intrusion into the personal lives of Americans, he wasn't right on everything none of us are. the man though was a gentlemen, had Kennedy not been assassinated they were going to do a train tour debate along the lines of Douglas/Lincoln.

Take a look at Ron Paul, he is a true conservative. He even has Barry Goldwater Jr's support.

Well it sounds like the man is biggoted towards Christianity. But I am going to check it out if my library has it.
The idea though that we are drifting away from the principles that this country are founded on ring very true. One being that they agreed that creator GOD was the source of our inalienable human rights. Our founding fathers many so many theistic assumptions in creating this nation and I find it amusing that atheists believe they can start pulling that thread out of history and govt and expect nothing to happen in response.
Secularization is only going to weaken this country morally and spiritually. And God is very much in the habit of making great nations that mock and deny him fall before all of mankind to see.

I just wish more so-called conservatives would go back and read Barry Goldwater's legacy and see how far the neo-cons have destroyed his party.
Goldwater was a gentleman and a consistent politician. No wavering in his positions. And not an attack dog or victim of trends or mob rule.
Many of us are hoping for some real republican leadership from people who think like Barry. And not the wannabes like Ron Paul.

Nothing is in stone. Even the Constitution can be amended in any way without restriction except by the process. I wouldn't obsess over the constitution. The definition of government is in the Declaration of Independence. Focus on that and government's origin and reason for being is clear.

I truely belive if we do not elect Ron Paul as our next president we will be doomed. Remember these words for our economy is already on its way, the world hates our bully type arrogance and we have become so willing to start wars with no real threat to us. The war on terror isnt a war on terror but rather our constitution.

The Neocons of today would call Goldwater a dirty pinko commie!
If you speak about Constitutionalist ideals today in this Neo-Liberal/Neo-Fascist environment of government,
they call you crazy.
Look at how they smear Ron Paul.
