I think you are referring to the real overall cost, not just the cost to the patient?
If so I would say yes but my opinion is based on the Australian experience. Australia recently negotiated a free trade agreement with the USA. One of flies in the ointment was Australia's PBS (Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme) and the US government wanted Australia to pay much more for the same drugs after the FTA went into effect. The new rates would have brought Australia into line with American drug costs.
Australia did not agree but what this tells me is that Australia is clearly paying less for the same drugs even though a lot of the patents and production are based in the USA. Why would American drug companies charge their own people more for the same drugs when they export them? Because they can!
Now if American drug companies are ripping you off then there is no reason why all the other sectors of the health industry would not follow suit.

interesting, I see in trouble-free terms a million/2-suggested solutions subsequently some distance for the main section. enable's seem at issues from the pro-end of this subject count. For the guy who responded this beforehand me approximately human beings interior the united kingdom pulling their very own tooth out with pliers using fact they could no longer get a dental appointment in time.... No offense meant, yet do you have faith each and every little bit of muddled crap it quite is located beforehand you? ninety 9% of my relatives is from Europe, ordinarily England, France, and Italy....all of that have nationalized tax-funded well being structures. The provider, from what I understand, is extraordinary. they have well timed provider for what they must be carried out, and the medical doctors are rewarded for easily doing their activity (i.e., convalescing well being) over American medical doctors merely being rewarded for prescribing the hot warm drug on the marketplace and doing no longer something to easily advance well being. The gadget, whilst carried out properly, works completely. it works properly in Canada, the united kingdom, and France for example. medical doctors paintings for the government, they do no longer paintings interior the back pocket of drug and coverage companies like they do right here. If it works so regrettably as we are taught to have faith in the U. S., why did my uncle to no longer some time past tell me that in the event that they bumped off the NHS interior the united kingdom there'd little question be revolution? i do no longer understand approximately you, yet there seems to be a definite fondness to the gadget. i'm fascinated in them enforcing a socialized well being care gadget interior the States, i think that that's approximately damned time that they do it. What i'm fascinated by is this : can they do it properly? On that, i'm no longer so optimistic.

I am in my 40's and I pay $400 a month for healthcare. A small co pay with any doctor or hospital visit on top of the monthly fee. I hear its free healthcare in Canada with a price..... I understand you may wait for care! I would rather pay and get top notch healthcare from my very nice doctor that I have right now.

Healthcare in Canada is not completely paid for by the government, we have to pay monthly premiums unless you earn below a certain level of income. Nobody gets turned away though.

Ultimately Canadians are likely paying just as much through the taxes they pay to the government. Yes, their government pays for it all but the government gets the money from the citizens of Canada.

American health care costs twice as much to administer as Canadian health care, and Canadians live an average of 3-4 years long than Americans.

Which would tell me that Americans are paying an awful lot, and not getting their money's worth. :)

I would imagine so. We have better facilities, doctors and technology that deliver better care, so it should cost more. Couple that with litigation that has resulted in higher administrative costs (9% in Canada and 25% here) and you definitely should expect higher costs here.

Yes but in Canada you have to wait months for surgery because all of the doctors worth their salt went to the USA.

yeah... I was reading a WHO study on it once...

it's like two times or something (when you broke it down based on total spending per person on average, county government spending too) ... I don't remember where it was... I think I found it off a link on a wikipedia page...

Less and my Canadians friends complain about it everyday! Opposers of American healthcare are usually hypocrites and scorned ex employees! Dont believe the hype! Ask a Canadian where he wants to be for an operation quickly and done superbly and he will answer you 'America"1 End of discussion!
