Replacing/Upgrading your RAM is very easy.

For Desktops,
1. Open up your case and locate the RAM slots.
2. Plug-in you module (make sure it fits first) in an open slot next to the one you already have.
3. Close the case and check if it has been installed correctly. (F2 on when your computer boots or System Properties)
[Note: make sure you unplug your computer first]

It shouldn't be very different for laptops

Upgrading your CPU is harder. It is riskier and could damage your system if you are not careful

Call a local computer business, make sure you have all the compatibility issues figured out. The RAM isn't so bad but processors are really touchy.

try googling :) a ram selector or ram buying guide or such ( i stumbled accross one on a purchasing retailers site but i forget (darn , sorry). it's like a web page that asks what model computer and manufacturer you are using an then it asks a little more and poof ...it offers choices of types that will work for you ... cause like someone else said, its easy to buy the wrong stuff that won't fit or work at all... good luck and hope for the best for you

Look up your motherboard to see what it is compatible with. Then decide what you want. I have no idea what type board you have so I can't suggest anything. Just don't buy the parts in a store like BestBuy. They will charge you double or triple the price you'll pay online. Go to newegg.com for your parts

check your motherboard specifications. If you don't you will end up getting parts that won't fit, or are not compatible.
