I recently got my 1995 pontiac bonneville back from pep boys after they fixed certain problems with my breaks locking up. After reading over some of the things they did to the car, I noticed that they had listed under "other procedures to maintain or improve vehicle" that my transaxle had internal and external leakage. I want to get this fixed I just want to know if this will be expensive or not to fix since I know that most things regarding a transmission tend to be expensive.

There aren't that many external places to leak the axle seals (2) oil pan (1) side cover pan (1) dipstick tub(1) front seal or main seal (1) oil cooler lines (2) shift linkage seal (1) throttle detente seal (1) the most expensive of these is the front seal to replace because the trans. must be removed, the next would be the axle seals.
the internal leaks call for an overhaul. Did they do a pressure test to find a low pressure situation? personally I doubt that and internal leaks are tuff to find

Internal they have no way of determining that (as it is impossible) External Axles seals are leaking, if it is not more than a few drips don't worry about it. If it leaks a cup a day take it to a garage and have it fixed (less than $250.00)

Internal leakage? That`s a good one. External leakage could be your shaft seals. Is there signs of fluid on your driveway around the center of the car? Seems to me prep boys may want an early christmas. I would get a second opinion. I think they are yanking your chain. If it isn`t broke , Don`t fix it

just like everything complex in this world , yes,
it could be either.
if it was a seal ,it could be easy
if it was a gasket it could cost a fortune.

front engine cars are cheap to make, and expensive to fix.
Id never own one. never have and never will.
do all my own work.
may be thats why SUV and PU's are so popular.
as is Miata's , and S2000.
