I will be 17 in about a month and a friend wants me to move in, i want to also, but my parents would not let e if i asked them, his cousin works at QT and asks every polic eofficer that comes in there and they all say that at 17 you can move out without your parents permission. I live in independence missouri, please help fast, if you can email them or find anything out in th einternet pleae help, i already tried searching people that aked the same thing but i keep getting different answers

Yes his cousin lives just down the street from him, so im really confused cause i just oiste dmy question and everyone is still sayig 18, but the cops are all saying 17, i tried to email the police but they didnt email back.

wow thanks for all the help everyone, im getting answers out the ying yang, how do you divorce your parents, if i did that would social services get invlved or anything and could they take my 2 little sisters away since i think its horribke and want to move out?

HAHAH cutt me off financially thats funny, its not your fault, but they dont give me any money, my gma does, they owe me money almost a grand, so they couldnt cutt me off funancially thts for sure

everyone is saying 18 because the federal age is 18, but each state is allowed to make its own laws so it could be lower or even higher.

also emancipation is rarely granted and the process can take a very long time

also remember if you move out because you legally cant but your parents don't want you to, then they'll probably cut you off financially

Well as everyone else has said, generally you must be eighteen, however, if you were to "divorce" your parents so to speak you would have to have a judge legally approve your move. You would need a job and a place to live--you have one of the two...

depends on the state, emancipation is 17 or 18.. if your cousin lives in the same state then it is 17. if you live in different states, just ask a police officer nicely.

u should definitely move out if u think it'll serve u some independence in the long run.but since I'm not from Missouri i don't know the legal stuff. but u should just do what u think will be better for u!

The legal age to do anything is 18. So your answer, 18 yrs of age.

in the united states your under your parents watch until you 18 but i believe this varies in some states the exact laws are a little hazy.

Generally, you are not permitted to move out unless you are a legal adult (18 years of age). Until that time, someone has to hold responsibility for you.
