"get AIDS and die!"
I'm sorry, as station manager I would have fired him. Why? You have every right to speak your mind. Anything you want. You want to tell someone you hate them, be my guest. Call them anything you want.
But it crosses the line, at least with me when you wish someone would get a disease and die.
This disease should not be wished upon for anyone, I don't care how much you hate them.
You see, that already happened. Just ignore it and it will take care of a certain group of people. That kind of backfired, didn't it? It didn't just stay within a certain group. Kids, hemophiliacs, wives, husbands, fathers, mothers, etc.
So yes, for those 4 words, and those 4 words only, I would have fired him.

I have no problem with Savage or his opinions, he is a "talk show" host, he is supposed to state his opinion. I have even read some of his books, and in all honesty he is funnier than any other right wing comedian (Dennis Miller).
Of course true liberals still exist, just as true conservatives still exist, but see when they talk they make sense and don't shout over one another. That's terrible for ratings, so the rational liberals and the rational conservatives never get airtime. it's the nutjobs like Moore (who I hate when I agree with because i believe he only does things to benefit himself) and right wing nuts like The Phelps family.

Michael Weiner (AKA Savage) is the funniest person on radio. I don’t think he should be expelled from the airways, however there are times when I’m sure he is about to off himself on the air. Savage either has constructed this outrageous radio personality or he really is pretty far out there. I’m not sure which is real, Michael—Weiner Nation or Michael—Savage Nation.

Liberals can't fire the nut case - only the station manager or owner. However, if liberals have their way they want everyone that strongly disagrees with them fired. Talk radio is entertaining and if you want to take it more seriously than that, feel free to be called an idiot, liberal or otherwise.

I've never heard him and haven't heard of anything he's said recently to bring this up, but I think it's his employers' call to make. I agree with his freedom of speech, however no commercial entity is required to provide him with a forum for that speech - it's up to them if they want to or not. Free market, capitalism, etc.

not all liberals are evil. i mean, i am liberal, more moderate, but center left. he shouldn't be fired. we have jackasses parading many of our insane ideas too.
we still exist. just look in Rhode Island. not Massachusetts, that place scares me.

Freedom of speech means freedom from arrest by the government because of said speech. It doesn't guarentee employment.

i'm a total liberal and i'm fine with guys like him, o' reilly, and hannity as long as they tell the truth. it's when guys on fox news who are touted as "newscasters" let their opinions slant the newscast.
but look at fox news' weekday lineup:
cavuto-conservative
gibson-conservative
hume-conservative
shep smith-conservative
o' reilly-conservative
hannity- hard-core conservative
colmes- moderate liberal, but fox calls him "hard-hitting"
