Where are you from?
Well, I guess my parents used to live in North Carolina so, I've always known them to be MASHED POTATOES. Whipped Potatoes, I've heard of and creamed potatoes, I've never heard of, but oh well. They're all the same and they make sense to me.
-Mashed...well cause you've mashed them.
-Whipped...well cause it looks like you whipped them into the goop it is now (which tastes really good, though hahaha)
-Creamed...well, same as mashed and whipped, looks like them potatoes got "creamed"/ beaten up pretty badly and thus, they looked mashed/ bashed!

Where I come from (England) and where I am now (Australia), we call them mashed potatoes, but on the menu at work, when they want to sound fancy they call them creamed potato. I have also eaten at a restaurant, and had something called smashed potato... which is a regular baked potato that has been smashed flat.
