I have 3 questions on core duo 2:

1. Can I change my pentium 4 to core duo 2 ?

2. Do I have to get another PC to get the core duo 2 or can I just replace the processor?

3. How much will the processor cost to change?

If your motherboard came out in 2005 or earlier, it does not support Core2 Duo. If it is a newer board that supports Core2 Duo, it would just be a simple replacement. Budget Core2 Duo (E2160) would be around $95. Next would be the E4xxx series at about $125-160. The high-end Conroes (E6xxx) would start at about $190.

Budget boards for Core2 Duo cost $65-95. The better boards cost $125 and up.

I don't think many p4 motherboards are compatible with core 2 duos so you'll probably have to upgrade your motherboard too. $250 - $400 for both.
