How are they doing that? Even Warren Buffet, the third richest man in the world says that the rich are not being taxed to much. In fact, he said that he payed less percentage in taxes on the $46 million he made last year than his Secretary who made $60,000. Doesn't sound like those that are succeeding are being hurt at all.

Taxes aren't punishment- they're a way for a successful person to give back to the society that gave them so much opportunity, so that others can also succeed. Exactly what sounds unfair about that you? The successful already have a high standard of living. The democrats would like to help improve everyone else's too.

Sociald: Yes, I believe it. Taxes are the bare minimum that you must give back to society. Building a successful business is neat for you, but leaves everyone else out in the cold. Please don't kid yourself that companies hire an employee as a charitable act- they need a service from him and negotiate the lowest rate he'll work for.

Charitable donations are tax deductible for the very reason you've described. If you'd prefer to give back to society through an entity besides the government, you're absolutely welcome to do so. That's much better than establishing off-shore tax shelters, dummy corporations, or any of the other thousands of things that rich people can do to avoid giving back at all.

""Taxes aren't punishment- they're a way for a successful person to give back to the society that gave them so much opportunity, so that others can also succeed.""

you really believe that beardog?

Call me silly but I thought as an example someone building a successful business and having money to hire some more people or be able to give some people a raise.. and to buy goods and services as well as to give to charities was a way to give back to the community.

But I see taxes is better in your opinion? I mean the government only wastes 'part' of the money administrating the redistribution of wealth...
and it shouldnt matter that you have little to no say in 'how' you give back to the community I guess?

Isnt it better to give someone in need 20 dollars than to give the government 20 dollars have them spend 10 dollars of that money giving it out to people and then the person gets 10 dollars? ( an oversimplification yes I know but still its true )

It's not trying to punish people who succeed. It's called paying your fair share. One of the biggest dangers in America today is that the gap between the wealthy and the poor is getting greater and greater while the middle class is shrinking. The wealthiest people in America can afford to pay more in taxes without incurring any hardships, while the poor and middle class are already struggling.

Sour grapes! Whoever U R, (whenever u as an individual succeed in something) albeit as an ordinary Joe in civilian and/or the military - there's always those who'll go after U, pull U down, make everything difficult. Unfortunately, its a major trait both in American politics, companies and their military.

Boo hoo hoo.

They want me to pay more income tax just because I have more income.

Poor rich little me.

Why can't I be lucky like all the poor people who pay less tax than me?

There are people who's success go far beyond their possible needs. These people should give some back to the system that make them so disgustingly successful.

They want to controll people through government programs that make them dependent on the system. Hitler did this by scape goating the Jews. US socialists are trying to do the same thing by scape goating the Christinas. Some tired old story.

Democrats do not want to "punish" people who succeed! They only want to punish criminals.

They DO want to make it a little more difficult for some of the "achievers" to screw over everybody and his mama to "achieve" their wealth!
