Okay first of all you need to refrain from getting discouraged if you don't get a role. Chances are, it's going to be hard to start out since you won't have a very well-known name (depending on what city you plan on working in... some people tend to think that reputation is mostly for larger cities like New York, but it's everywhere.) When you go in to audition, don't sit down. It's so embarrassing to watch people start their monologues in a seated position. Unless it specifically calls for it, it drains energy and is very boring for the auditioners to watch.
Another thing, acting in theater is kind of tricky in the beginning because there are a lot of people who tend to work with one another on a regular basis. As long as you go in with a level head (and a humble nature about you,) you'll do fine. Confidence is key! Pick several monologues that can highlight your emotional range, and it's always a good step to have a song up your sleeve just in case the occasion calls for it. Call backs tend to be short-notice and they can ask you to do some crazy stuff.

Most importantly, don't be embarrassed about anything you do there. If you can cry in front of fifty people at auditions, for the love of God, do it. Don't let other people's perceptions of you mar your talent. Go for it! This was a bit ranty but I hope it helped a little!
