well as far as sayings go, Love sometimes make people do the darnest things.
Inspiration, and wanting to strive for excellence should be something that we all would like to achieve within ourselves without needing "Love" in our lives to help us in the decission making. Sure enough Love may be the Icing on the cake but it should not be the only thing that drives you to be a better person, that should come out of you yourself. That is what is called "Self-Esteem.

Goodness! I remember being "in love." (In my archaic past.) I felt joyous all of the time. I was beautifully alert to everything & everybody. People "saw" me more, like some bright shining star. A wonderful temporary insanity. To LOVE is quite another thing. Honestly, I think that when you love someone & they love you, it does "inspire" by virture of the depths on which you draw to fulfill that person as they fulfill you. I'll try to put it this way: Love is a beautiful virus. It expands one's terrain. (Very naturally & without effort.) Perhaps one "feels" a better person??

Being in love does give one cause to be a better person.

You can still be a good person and fall out of love with someone.

My husband would simply say yes. To explain in more depth, being in love can inspire you to want to be the person your loved one sees when they look at you. Love is blind. Not to a person's faults but loving someone means you feel their potential. We are not here to be stagnant beings but are meant to grow and reach beyond our comforts. Love helps us want to grow and reach.

You are wonderful the way you are. I'm sad to hear that you believe yourself to be anything but a good or better person.
