It would depend on the situation and my perceptions of the other person based upon my previous experiences. For the most part, and I know that this may sound rather ego-centric, I personally find that I tend to be smarter than the "average" person. I took an I.Q. test quite a few years ago and I scored 123. However, altough I scored above average, It is my belief that it is not necessarily a persons' ability to recall certain information verbatim, but to be able to think "outside of the box". This is one main reason that I have essay questions for the exams that I present to my students to see if they, can too, develop their thinking on the given subject matter.

I don't think I'm smarter than people. I think my maturity level surpasses others my age however. I'm only 17, I get mistaken for 14 because of my overall petite size. If someone of any age were to simply have a conversation with me, without meeting me, they would think I was much older. I might sound full of myself, but I'm, really not. People in online in forums and other more personal Q&A sites have been shocked when they found out my age. They mistaked me for being much older. But by no means do I think I'm smarter than anyone else.

I don't think I'm any smarter than others, well, maybe a few exceptions.... lol But really, sometimes I feel like I'm way outsmarted and others I feel pretty level with the person I'm comparing my intelligence with. I don't feel smart compared to the A+ scoring over-achievers....

You will always find someone who is smarter than you. I'm relatively smart for my age, but that doesn't make me any higher than anyone else.
