If you want to be an actor on tv in the future you need to start getting all the experience you can now. It's a chance in a million but taking acting classes and actually acting on stage is a good plus. If you live somewhere that you can do tv commercials, do that too. You need to keep a resume of everything that you do. That includes acting classes. Even the most famous actors still take acting classes to keep their skills fresh.

Hi,

If you do a search here on answers you will see other answers to this question, as it comes up usually a couple of times each day. I answer this question a lot and so instead of writing the same or similar answers over and over again, I have created an ebooklet that will give you a lot of intormation as to what you need to do to get started. Just go to http://www.actingcareerstartup.com/acs-blog.html , sign in on the right side of the page and you can download it for free. It's called: What It Takes To Become An Actor.

The second resource is about getting an agent, although, if you have no training yet, then I doubt that you are ready, but here it is anyway: http://www.actingcareerstartup.com/how_to_get_an_agent.html . It takes you through a process that I used to get two agents and a personal manager in a short period of time in New York. Using the same process, I also got casting directors to actually start calling me in directly for auditions.

That should help!

I'm 15, so pretty close to your age and I'm involved with theatre.
First I'd like to point out, a couple movies off the top of my head that pulled lead roles from students fresh out of high school who had never performed in anything, except theatre. Movie examples: Hairspray (the main character Tracey had no acting experience except in school musicals and plays) and the movie Eragon (Ed Speelers who played Eragon once again had no professional experience. Fresh out of school with nothing but high school theatre)
Theatre does help, at least I think so. I've noticed my improvement over the years because you learn from yourself and others, observe different styles, and learn to become the character - which is what acting is all about. You are no longer yourself, just 100% in character. A good actor can be on stage and the audience won't think it's you; they will think it's the character.
And if you want to become an actor, it's best to start off with theatre. Outside of school you can go to auditions. I have a friend who recently just joined a professional theatre organization. Become more involved with plays and productions in the area, inside or outside of school. Practice makes perfect as they say.
And never, never give up on your dream. Continue to go for your goal and stick with it. Good luck and I hope this helped some.

I'd say yes you should. You should get as much experience as possibe especially now that your young. Theater actors are very professional and a lot do make it to tv/film. When you get to do tv/film roles learn not just the art of acting but the technical aspects such as screen direction. Screen direction is very important especially in tv/films, its the number 1 reason why actors and crew get fired. Know stage left is camera right and stage right is camera left, also learn eye lines and your position markers. All this will help you get an advantage. Good luck.

Yes! I definitely recommend doing theatre all through high school if possible. I always wanted to be in show biz too and I did quite a few plays and stuff. It was fun but I realized it wasn't for me. But yes, do try to take it. You'll learn so many techniques and it helps a lot to get comfortable with performing in front of people. Try to be in as many productions as you can and don't get discouraged if you don't have leads automatically. It took me 2 years of plays before I got a lead...but when I did, it was completely worth it.

Work on your memorization skills..you'll need that. Just try memorizing poems or something to strengthen your memory. And if you can...get a voice coach to help train your voice because musicals are pretty common and they're a great way to expand your talent.

Have fun and good luck!

I don't know if you live in England but you could get an agent ( eg. Young Un's Agency ) as they are free and you only have to pay them a percentage of your earnings.
Check out the Stage newspaper ( www.thestage.co.uk ) .
Keep participating in school plays.
Keep believing in yourself.

You've got some high standards set for yourself... Not really a bad thing... just not as realistic or simple as most career choices... Based on what you just wrote... that you want to become A ACTOR... I'd say you need to work on your grammar before you even consider becoming a Hollywood celebrity.
