Buying new countertops... Does anyone know the impact of using quartz in countertops on the environment?

We like the Zodiaq colors that are made with 97% quartz. Is there a big negative impact on the environment by taking quartz from the earth?

Quartz is the most abundant mineral on the surface of the earth so the little bit you will be using won't affect the environment at all.
