I like the sound of it and the spelling, but you really should be cautious of names that are just re-invented spellings of established ones. You would be dooming your child to a lifetime of explaining and correcting.
Marilyn is a beautiful, classic name, not at all too old-fashioned, and probably on the verge or rediscovery. If you really like the sound of it but want something unique without the constant explanations, try Marigold. Floral names never go out of style, and either way her nickname will be Mary or Merry.

The spelling is awful, but the name Marilyn is nice. The name Merry is welsh. That would be better than the spelling above.
