what makes a guy get stiff/hard?
do you get embarassed when it happens in public?
how long would it take for him to get it back to normal? what could he do to make it get back to normal?

It can be embarrassing if it won't go down. If I'm horny/haven't had any in awhile, even the friction against my short can be enough to get it going. It usually goes down pretty quick as long you don't pay it too much attention.

Anything that excites a male sexually can cause an erection. This could include visual stimuli, being close to a receptive female, physical stimulation, or even thoughts & dreams.
Adolescent boys may be embarrased if this happens at inopportune times. If you see a boy holding a book in front of his pelvis, he may be trying to hide an erection.
The time necessary to lose an erection is extremely variable, but it is possible to lose an erection in less than a minute. Since an erection is an involuntary response, a male cannot "make" it get back to "normal" any more than he can will an erection on demand. Can you "make" your erect nipples go "back to normal"?

I get way hard when hot chicks wear revieling things, or even if they just look good too, also if they talk dirty around me that does it too.
The only time i get embarassed is if I am in the swimmingpool/hottub, its too hard to hide it in swimsuit...
if i am in public like school or something i can get it back down quick if I (this might sound mean) look at an ugly chick or something, also could put my hand in pocket and push it down, take about 30 sec- 1min,
If hottub, its lots harder, take 5-10min for me....

It doesn't take much, even being around an attractive female friend can cause a guy to get hard. Guys have probably gotten hard just being around you. It isn't necessarily a conscious thing either, sometimes it just happens.
It can be embarrassing especially if you get "busted" by a girl sporting a hard-on.
I'm curious as to whether girls try to be flirtatious to give guys hard-ons and whether they check out the "package".

Yeah, our penises can be strange things. Hot girls will make us erect, but if your shorts are rubbing it a certain way, that'll work too. Sometimes, we drift off into our own worlds and have naughty thoughts. That works too.
In public, we can try and adjust to get it to go down. But, if it's a full blown erection and we're extremely hard, sometimes it takes a little while for it to go down. Or we try and think unsexy thoughts-- baseball, an old English teacher that I hated, etc.

As far as embarassment, most guys grow out of it; when I was a teenager, I would try to hide it-probably drawing more attention to myself in the process. Nowadays though, if I get a woody in public, and someone is determined to stare at my crotch, they're welcome to enjoy the show.

Blood flow to the penis,sight and thought of something sexy and physical contact to the penis. Its normal for guys to have hard ons. Well it depends ....distract the mind.

sexual thoughts or just hermone make a guy go hard. i guess its kinda embarrising thinking about blood and gross stuff is usally a turn off and makes it go down fast lol good luck
