I just got done spraying engine degreaser on my engine, and then rinsing it off ten minutes later at a car wash. Of course the engine was NOT running while I was washing it. Now, it runs really rough, like it wants to sputter out, and its lacking power. I'm hoping that it'll go back to normal after it drys out...whats causing this?

yeah you got the wires wet, it shouldnt be a big deal once it dries out as long as you didnt spray water directly into the carb, and might ruin the engine

Could be several things more than likely just water in an electrical connection. If so, it should go back to running fine once it dries out. If you washed the motor with it hot the you could have caused something to crack maybe causing a head gasket leak. If that's the case then it will be a major repair. If you wash a engine that is hot then you should do so with it running so that the metal won't change temperature rapidly.

You didn't mention what car/engine you have. You could have water inside the distributor cap or plug wires. Or, you could have loosened a connector somewhere.

if its an old (classic ) you may have either wet wires, of starter, alternator ,and worst case scenario got water in the carb, on newer or older vehicles pop the hood and leave it open for bout a week, if you drive it while wet it can easily become expensive trust me

listen to fordman-koshkateer2-bryan k.you got water in your dist. cap(older cars) or a relay. i have used wd-40 to displace the water and wiped excess with a dry paper towel..
if you have acess to compressed dry air,you my try to blow dry everything,or using a hair drer on low heat-be careful not to overdo it.
