I am in the begining of my story and am in need of a good first name for my main character. I have decided the last name and have narrowed it down to the following for the first: Jason, Rudy, and Jonathon. Please reply with your opinion and reply with only one of the three names previously listed. Thank you.

Jonathon. Gives you a selection of nicknames and also makes it easy to have some characters get formal with the main character without having to resort to always to using his first name. Ever had you're mom or dad get really mad at you and they called out your full name. You know you're in real trouble when they start getting that formal. Well, here he could go by Jon (or some other nickname of Jonathon) all the time and know that folks are serious when they say Jonathon instead. Then he's really in trouble when they use his full name.

Though Rudy doesn't sound as good as the others, I think it is the best. It's a special name for the main character.

well the last name would be nice, so we can hear how it flows. But I wouldn't do Rudy. I like Jonathon better than Jason.

Jonathan sounds more sophisticated than the other two. Besides, when you develop your sub-characters, they could call your main character with shortened name (depends on the relationship between the sub-characters and your main, as well as the situation Jonathan is in).
Anyway, you can also pick the name which is the total opposite to your main character's personality and traits. This will make it a lot more interesting.
