Without ignorance, there would be nothing left to learn. Ignorance is the blank page for the pen of growth.

I am not saying that ignorance is "good" or "bad"
It just is.
We are all ignorant. If we were not, then we would be omnipotent. Instead of using the word as some kind of put down, people should skip the label and educate.

Hmmm, nice point. But I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing if the pen need not grow any more.

EDIT: Notice how the twit above me (the girl) made this question to involve race when such is so far off topic, as this question had nothing at all to do with anything remotely close to race. Why am I making a point to mention this? I'll tell you---
This crazy nut is racist against anyone who isn't what she thinks of as black. She bad mouths people who speak out against racism and emails people to insult them. So I've made up my mind to inform people whenever I see her respond to questions with her nonsense.

Being ignorant isn't the same as being uninformed. Uninformed individual might still learn something some day, so his state of mind is a blank page / starting point of possible growth. Ignorant individual isn't interested in learning, he has his beliefs and half baked convictions of some sort, and that is quite enough for him in his pathetic life of judgment and hate. He doesn't question anything and he is easily led by the nose by various religious leaders from time to time. For this reason, it becomes a huge problem for the rest of the intelligent world.

It is a tragedy however, when an ignorant person becomes a President of a large country. The cost for his ignorance is counted in lost human lives...

There is a difference in ignorance, denial and racism.

Some people truly ARE IGNORANT

Some(most whites but not all) Know the truth about black history and waddle in denial and racism, so they try to convince themselves that the "white mans history" is true and good. When in actuality most is, false, wrong, or bad
