I don't know if you have tried this, make sure you wash them inside out and in cold water.
And make sure you are using a detergent that does not have any bleach in it.
Good luck.

I'm sorry to disagree with the fine folks who say line dry rather than use a drier. NO WAY! The sun is the world's WORST fader! Look at my patio furniture! I've not used ANY harsh detergents and NO fading driers, just a little rain and a lot of sun.

My vote is for a gentle detergent and a gentle drier. That will SLOW the fading process, but c'mon! Over time, everything fades, including photographs, looks, memories, and yes, black shirts too.

Wash it in cold water, and use detergent made for dark clothing. Then don't put it in the dryer, let it air dry.

For some of your black shirts that have already faded, you can buy black dye for clothes and follow the directions it gives for dying your shirt. You can take this measure if a favorite shirt of yours faded, I know I would.

Use mild detergent soap. But now most detergent bars or powder seems stronger than before the old days.
I am using for my sensitive clothes a liquid one. Name Persil.
You should also wash it seperately. It also depends to the quality or cloth your shirt is. Sometimes either you bought an expensive or the cheap one if you are not sure what kind of cloth is it, you could get after one or few washing you can throw it away or use it as a rug. I experience that.

Hand wash them, or put the washing machine on cold. Don't overdry either.

wash them on a gentle cycle, inside out with woolite for dark colors. do not put them in dryer...hang them up. this will keep them darker longer.
