Giving a live animal as a joke is cruel. Animals require a lot of care and when one gets a pet they are expected to take good care of it and love it.
Find an appropriate joke gift and show compassion for animals.

you shouldn't get a turtle or any other animal for a joke, if you don't plan to take care of it you shouldn't get one or get a toy turtle.
