It seems every day I come across another example of stupidity/lack of common sense. Maybe technology is making things so easy in every day life, that people don't have to think as much as they used to.

It's not just you. This world is going to hell in a hand basket. We are becoming lazier, fatter, meaner, dumber, and angrier.

Sometimes I think there's only a set amount of intelligence in the world, but with the population expanding, that leaves less to go around... I have known since elementary school that most people just don't like to think, like it's too much work. I think it's fun.
Truth is, Increased population does have something to do with the high stupidity quotient. There's a natural range of intelligence present, from dad-blasted idiots to hyper-smart geniuses. The fact that there are more of each means there are more acts of stupidity in the news, as well as more intelligence - but the media only reports the bad news, so all we hear about is the woman who hit a pedestrian and drove home with him stuck in her windshield, and so forth.
Personally, I blame poor education and parenting. People aren't taught how to be human beings anymore.

What I notice is.....Those with the highest I Q usually have the least amount of common sense. I know a young woman who is a "professional student" I call her that because she is always changing her goals and majors, and taking more and more classes, which she passes with flying colors. She is extremely intelligent. However, the girl can't organize a closet or unstick a drawer, or figure out how not to run into the garage door. I am not kidding! NO COMMON SENSE.

I don't think you are alone in your thinking. I see it everyday too. I am a firm believer that it is family life today. I am not that old but I have grown up in the Midwest and we seem to be losing here too. I really think a lot of it has to do with the fact that families are spending less and less time with one another. I mean really where do you get most of the knowledge from ? You can't really get that from public schools or even private for that matter. I think it is technology, but in the sense children are plugged into that to get their entertainment and socializing from. I know a lot of people don't want to hear this either but I think the short cuts to conversation has something to do with it too ie: LOL.... (one of my favorites). Or just how we interact with others. Or maybe the fact we all hide behind our computers to keep us imaginary. Who knows, maybe Dr. Phyl has the answers.\

Yes it does seem this way. As I type this another child was left in the car by her parents and the car was stolen with her in it. The news is now asking us to look out for the car and child. So sad yet so common these days.

Yes it does. Just watch the TV. People on Judge Judy and Lynn Toler and all those judge shows along with people on Maury, etc. are not all there.

No, it isn't just you, dear. I hate to say it, but it seems moral values are changing. People stopped asking questions... And that is a tragedy.
