Utah has many different places. Salt Lake City, Moab, Monument Valley, Zion NP, Bryce NP, Park City, etc. are all good. Zion might have been my favorite, but the others were not far behind.
In Colorado, Denver is a good starting point, but Boulder, Colorado Springs, Rocky Mountain NP, Telluride, Mesa Verde NP are all great too.
Hard to be bored in either state.

1. Pikes Peak
2. Dinosaur National Monument.
3. Colorado National Monument.
4. Uncompaghre Falls.
5. Air Force Academy.
6. Durango-Silverton...take the train.
7. Grand Mesa.
8. Royal Gorge.
9. Cripple Creek.
10. Estes Park.
.....to name a few.
