today is my 50th birthday my husband gave me a manilla folder filled with crossword puzzles now hes sleeping i am getting madder by the minute am i wrong???

Without fighting, you should definitely confront him and let him know that he should know you by now and obviously he doesn't. Ask if he really thinks you were treated the way you would have loved to be treated on your birthday? Ask if he really thinks you loved your gift and when he fell asleep?
Just put it all in his lap and then say, well I have to be honest. That was the biggest turn off.

Well if you are broke, he could have at least stayed awake and given you a back massage.

When my husband turned 50 I was completely broke. No money for the first time in my entire life (that wasn't inaccessible and tied up in something) But we did go out on his dime, and had fun...other birthdays have come and gone and he has received expensive presents...but it's not about the cost of things, it's about giving some loving attention.
I'm sorry he's a boring jerk asleep on the couch.

I will turn 50 in a few months and I can understand how you feel. On this day, of all days, you want to feel vibrant and sexy. He was pretty insensitive if you ask me! Why don't you put on something sexy, light some candles in the bedroom and take advantage of him! If he's been a good husband in other ways don't be too mean. Be playful and tell him you want him NOW!!

Hell no! You have a right to be mad. Happy Birthday to you! What you need to do is go out and have yourself the best 50th birthday ever! Go out with your girlfriends, do dinner, drink, do whatever you want! Then tell hubby exactly what you think of his gift. Better yet, save it and re-gift it to him for his birthday!

Go out and celebrate your birthday with friends! Leave a note for him and don't come home until the early morning hours.
