I went to shift my car from drive to reverse, when there was a clinking noise. Now it makes this winding noise when i put it in reverse and hit the gas. It still goes forward, but you can still hear the winding noise faintly. Is my transmission compltely out or is it something else. Also, does anyone know how much that would cost me??

I'd say it's time for a rebuild. Take it to a tranny shop.

check the fluid level first. ATs with low at fluid does this. BTW, next time give more details like make model trans, got at leak? etc etc
good luck it may just be low on AT fluid
